After the city heavily attended a meeting Wednesday night, the first selectman Maurice Blanchette waiting on questions of legal opinion request to combine the referendum for Crystal Lake schools project and the construction of a new senior center. Bond Attorney and city attorney consulted for clarification on the procedure.
The petition, which was approved by the town meeting by a huge margin is released by Wayne Reynolds, Chairman of the Steering Committee Ellington Senior Center. He stated that the intent of the petition, and the message is delivered to people who sign, a referendum will combine the two projects into one question for approval or rejection. Board of Finance Chairman Robert Clements has asked the Steering Committee to postpone the funding request immediately, maybe a couple of years, until the city had the opportunity to retire some outstanding debt service.
